Hyster has extended its Fortens™ forklift range with the introduction of an 8-9 tonne capacity series, providing a compact, efficient, high capacity truck that delivers low cost of operation in tough applications.

The new H8.0-9.0FT Fortens series is ideally suited for industries such as paper, wood, beverage, metals, ports, automotive or construction materials. The high capacity, compact design also benefits operations with high attachment usage.

HIGH CAPACITY YET COMPACT

The H8.0-9.0FT has a compact design, ensuring that space, loads moved per hour and on-site efficiency is maximised to maintain low operating costs. It shares many features with the successful H6.0-7.0FT series, including the frame construction, low maintenance oil immersed brakes, leak-free hydraulics and drivetrain.

The compact frame design results in a wheelbase of 2450mm making the H8.0-9.0FT one of the smallest in its capacity class, particularly when taking into consideration the load centre for trucks equipped with front end attachments.

OPERATOR COMFORT AND CONTROL AT ITS BEST

The operator compartment features the very best in ergonomics, which those drivers already familiar with the Fortens range will appreciate. Highlights include optimised floor space; a new full suspension seat (with swivel option) and an adjustable seat armrest that complements the easy to use E-hydraulic TouchPoint™ mini-lever controls; an isolated operator compartment minimising the effect of powertrain vibration; easy driver access via three non-slip steps and conveniently positioned hand-grips; a rear drive handle, with integrated horn to facilitate reverse driving.

The high operator position and new range of 2-stage and 3-stage high capacity VISTA® masts deliver excellent all-round visibility.

RELIABLE, ENERGY EFFICIENT POWER

The Tier 3 certified 82kW Cummins QSB3.3 turbo diesel engine (82kW@2400rpm) is highly efficient, delivering low fuel consumption and low CO and particulate emissions levels, which are among the lowest in the 8-9 tonne segment. A large capacity radiator provides extra cooling with a superior counterweight tunnel design to ensure that the engine performs efficiently in tough applications, even in high ambient temperatures.

OPTIMISED PERFORMANCE WITH ‘DURAMATCH’

The Cummins engine combined with Hyster’s electronically controlled 3-speed DuraMatch™3 transmission, delivers superior productivity with 3-forward speeds and 2-reverse. The powertrain is controlled, protected and managed by the Pacesetter VSM™ industrial onboard computer, featuring a CANbus communications network. It permits adjustment and optimisation of the truck's performance to suit the demands of the application.

In addition, the VSM controls the now familiar Auto Deceleration System (ADS) and Controlled Power Reversal feature, both of which contribute to increased truck productivity, through the electronic control of direction changes and deceleration, while at the same time, reducing operating costs, thanks to reduced tyre, brake and transmission wear.

THE ULTIMATE IN DEPENDABILITY

In addition to controlling and monitoring key truck functions and programming performance parameters, the VSM also enables quick, easy diagnostics, minimizing repair downtime. CANbus technology, non-mechanical hall-effect switches, IP66 connectors and ORFS fittings also provide improved component reliability in the most arduous environments.

Serviceability is second to none, with a “gull-wing” style hood providing simple access to both sides of the engine and all major mechanical components, as well as the simplified CANbus wiring system and the hydraulics. Thanks to low maintenance components, regular servicing is recommended at just 500 hours. In addition, Hyster offers a standard 2000hr warranty plus 4000hr / 24 month on the DuraMatch™3 transmission.
