Sustainable transhipment makes it possible to transport more goods through inland waterways, avoiding the congestion of the road network in the Randstad area of the Netherlands.

Alpherium is working hard to make the company CO2 neutral and this investment underlines its commitment and ambition to create a green corridor between the Randstad and the seaports.

How did Hyster Help?

  • Introduced a new Empty Container Handler, supplied by Heffiq BV, as part of the modernisation of the terminal machines fleet
  • The new machine is quieter, more economical and smarter than their previous machine

Benefits

  • The new Empty Container Handler can pick up two empty containers at once and lift them up to sixteen metres high
  • The unique double horizontal twistlock system allows containers to be put closer together
  • The double horizontal twistlock system always locks the containers during transport, including 45ft containers
  • The spreader features a soft landing package for maximum sound attenuation when picking up containers
  • The modern stage IV engine with ECO mode combines with the smart transmission for low fuel consumption and a reduced noise level
  • With the low emissions, the machine meets the rigorous stage IV emission standards for Non-Road Mobile Machinery
  • The machine is very stable and pleasant to drive with a well placed centre of gravity
  • With the new machine, Alpherium can stack more efficiently and make less use of their heavier equipment. This allows them to further optimise the operation at Alpherium, thereby reducing the impact on the environment
