Hyster to review pedestrian and object awareness/detection in port environments at TOC Americas Show in Cancun, Mexico from Oct 11 – 13
GREENVILLE, N.C. (October 10, 2016) – Many port operations have mobile equipment and people working alongside in the same area. This busy work environment increases the need for machines and people to maintain proper awareness of each other, making pedestrian detection systems a much discussed topic in the port community. Hyster Company will participate in a seminar on pedestrian and object awareness/detection in port environments at TOC Americas Show in Cancun, Mexico from October 11 – 13, 2016.
“Terminal operators are looking into emerging automotive technologies, finding that many may not be up to the task within the port environment” says Ed Stilwell, Functional System Leader at Hyster Company. “We are offering to discuss the different detection systems being developed, their pros and cons and how leading material handling companies such as Hyster are innovating to improve port operations”.
Stilwell is one of the scheduled speakers during this year’s TECH TOC conference, one of three educational paths offered to participants during TOC Americas. During the presentation, “Terminals of Tomorrow: Sensors, Systems and Connect Assets” on October 11 at 3:00 pm, Stilwell will discuss which technologies may be able to enhance the awareness of port operators and pedestrians of each other and how the various alert systems can maintain material handling productivity.
“Hyster offers a full line of lift trucks to port and terminal operators, but our expertise and value reaches beyond the machines”, says Brett Schemerhorn, President Big Trucks Americas for Hyster Company. “The know-how we developed in detection systems is one example, but we also cater to the ‘big data’ need of port operators today” Schemerhorn explains. Telematic solutions like Hyster Tracker which can be installed on a variety of mobile equipment, enable port operators to collect data on their rolling stock machines, from daily service checks to accident reports and utilization analysis. Easily-accessed robust reporting provides quick visibility to key metrics that help keep port operations running efficiently.
The Hyster® Big Truck line of forklifts provides up to 105,000 pounds lifting capacity for port terminals.
