Visit Hyster at stand C11 to learn more about port electrification and alternative power solutions for port equipment. At the show, visitors can also see a first preview of the technologies that are in development for the zero-emission Hyster® Terminal Tractor, powered by hydrogen fuel cells.
Here are some of the other zero-emission equipment solutions for ports and terminals to discuss with the Hyster team at the show.
Hydrogen powered container handlers & reachstackers
Hyster continues to develop port handling equipment powered by hydrogen fuel cells. For example, Hyster announced testing of a Laden Container Handler powered by two 45kw hydrogen fuel cells at Fenix Marine Services in the Port of Los Angeles.
These same technologies are seen in the zero-emission Hyster® ReachStacker that is in development for the Port of Valencia, as part of the European Horizon 2020 programme and H2Ports project. The port will be the first in Europe to incorporate hydrogen energy in its operations.
Electric container handlers
Hyster recently revealed that it will provide with CARU Containers B.V. with a 100% battery-powered Hyster Empty Container Handler for use in a depot in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The electric empty container handler will be powered by 650-volt lithium-ion batteries, with electricity sourced from solar panels on site at the CARU depot.
A Hyster Laden Container Handler is also in development which is purely powered by a large lithium-ion battery, which is charged by a high-power, wireless fast charger.
Hyster® lithium-ion forklifts: drive it like a diesel
Hyster® electric high-capacity lift trucks could help you tackle the tough challenges in your port operation with comparable strength and performance to ICE-powered trucks. The Hyster J10-18XD series of electric Big Trucks offers exceptional traction power, acceleration, and visibility that will make you feel like you’re driving a diesel, just without the tailpipe emissions. Visit stand C11 at TOC Europe for the latest updates.
HVO Fuel options from Hyster
To support ports and terminals on their journey towards electrification, Hyster Big Trucks, Container Handlers and ReachStackers can also now utilise HVO 100 (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) as a fuel source to help reduce emissions. This may provide a stop-gap solution that reduces greenhouse gas emissions, meets Tier III, Tier IV, and Stage V emissions regulations, and can be applied to both new Hyster trucks and those already in the field.
