iTerminals 4.0 Project

iTerminals 4.0 Project wins Waterborne Award 2023

The iTerminals 4.0 Project, which Hyster has participated in for several years, has won Best Innovation Project at the Waterborne Awards 2023. It beat two other projects to the award, thanks to standing out under three key criteria: Originality, Value Creation, and Impact.

iTerminals 4.0 is an EU funding project awarded by the Connecting Europe Facility Programme. It seeks to close the gap between the ports and terminals industry and other sectors when it comes to digitalisation concepts, such as the Internet of Things, Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Robotics and Automation.

The iTerminals 4.0 project includes pilots where digital technologies are deployed in real operations at European ports and terminals. It has also led to the creation of TIC 4.0 (Terminal Industry Committee), of which Hyster is co-founder. The mission of TIC 4.0 is to promote, define and adopt standards that will enable the cargo handling industry to embrace the 4th industrial revolution.

Digitalising preventative and predictive maintenance
