Lithium-ion batteries are emerging as proven power options for higher-capacity equipment, offering the reliable, rugged performance operations expect from diesel powered equipment. However, these may bring the benefits of an electric power train, such as reduced emissions, fuel consumption and lower maintenance costs.
But there’s no one-size-fits-all solution to electrify fleets. Hydrogen fuel cells are another option, with several pilot programmes in the works.
