Hyster responds to market needs Hyster has not only developed its range to meet the requirements of emissions regulations, it has reduced emissions and fuel consumption in response to market needs. On the popular 2.0-5.5t Fortens® models and 8-16t forklift trucks, Hyster has achieved the fuel savings in several ways including: The introduction of an optional ECO-eLo setting which reduces the engine governed speed by 20%. Load Sensing Hydraulics (LSH) system which features Variable Displacement Pump (VDP) technology reducing the demand of the hydraulic systems on the engine. It only delivers hydraulic flow when any of the hydraulic functions are activated – such as lifting, tilting or if the truck is equipped with a sideshift or an attachment such as a clamp or rotator. The hydraulic function is an “on-demand” system, which significantly reduces fuel consumption. Hyster has teamed up with leading engine manufacturer Cummins and have included new Cummins Tier 4 Interim / Stage IIIB engines into our high capacity forklift trucks (over 16 Tonnes) which has demonstrated: Improved fuel efficiency compared to Tier 3 / Stage IIIA. Enhanced productivity, thanks to faster engine response. Cleaner and quieter operation than ever before. Reduced CO2 emissions, helping users to reduce the overall carbon footprint of the truck. In addition to the Cummins technologies applied to Hyster® high capacity forklift trucks to reduce fuel consumption, the use of performance optimisation techniques, such as cooling on demand, load sensing hydraulics, RPM management and alternate engine idle speed, also help to reduce the total fuel consumption in all applications.
