• Special Features

Using special features may be right for certain applications

Hyster makes available - as optional equipment - a wide range of accessories that may be used in a specific application and work environment.

    • Optional audible or visible warning devices
    • Work and headlights to meet a variety of application needs including LED and halogen lighting designed to resist damaging effects of weather, shock and vibration while increasing visibility in low ambient light environments.
    • Visible Devices – Flashing, Rotating, and Strobe Lights
    • Audible Devices – Back-up or Motion Alarms
    • Operator Restraint Systems
    • Rear Drive Handle with Horn button – Provides a secure location for the operator’s right hand when driving in reverse that is inboard of the truck for impact protection. Handle includes a horn button to allow the operator to sound the horn without having to move a hand to the center of the steering wheel.
    • Reverse Operation Audible Alarm – May alert pedestrians and other equipment operators of the presence of the unit

    Additional Operator & Application Options

    • Enclosed Operator Cabs – Protects the operator from the elements, features tempered glass with greater strength, includes emergency exit via window removal, and additional sound-proofing to reduce noise levels at the operator’s ear.
    • Operator Selectable Performance Modes – Allows operator to select the performance need for the specific application. Also allows a supervisor to reduce the maximum performance of a unit, allowing a new operator to learn the operating characteristics of the lift truck in a controlled manner.
    • Impact Monitor – Disables unit and requires a supervisor override to re-enable unit. This encourages the operator to operate the unit in a more controlled manner.
    • Panoramic and Dual Rear View Mirrors – Serves as an aid to the operator in observing the operating environment behind the truck just prior to a direction change as well as the tail swing area in a forward travel turn.
    • Auto Park Brake – Park brake is automatically applied when the truck comes to a stop and no accelerator input is requested. This feature prevents unrepentant rolling in the event the operator fails to apply the brake.

Innovative features provide lower costs and improved productivity

In today's materials handling marketplace, customers need a lift truck manufacturer with a long history of reliability and durability, as well as one who continues to be innovative and responsive.

Teams of inventive minds at Hyster Company continuously create unique lift truck features that push the productivity envelope for customers. Hyster’s goal is to help make every customer operation more productive and profitable through lower cost of operation, dependability, serviceability and better ergonomics. All of the innovative features found on Hyster lift trucks are designed to meet these needs.

    Cost of Operation

    AC Motor Technology

Hyster® AC traction and pump motors are less complex than conventional DC motors, providing superior torque, speed capabilities, reliability, and thermal performance.  All of this means:

    • Lower overall temperatures compared to the equivalent DC motors of equal output.
    • No need to service brushes, brush rigging and motor commutators.
    • No arching, no sparking, no maintenance.
    • Overall periodic maintenance intervals can be extended 500 hours in normal operating environments.

    LED Advantage

LED lamps are extremely tough. There is no glass to shatter and no filament to break so these lamps can take abuse far beyond that of an incandescent bulb. They are extremely efficient and can emit light equal to an incandescent bulb while consuming as much as four to five times less amperage.

    Impact Monitor

The Impact Monitor is an effective method for reducing damage to the truck, the facility and the product being moved, based on improved driver accountability. The Impact Monitor constantly senses the truck's movement and looks for acute variations in movement that may resemble the forces of an impact. The customer can save thousands of dollars that would have been spent on repairs or damaged product due to improper operation of the lift truck.

    Dependability & Serviceability

    Vista Masts

The Hyster® Vista Masts feature a nested channel design, full-face straight load rollers canted at 3 degrees, solid steel cast cross-members and a large visibility window. Brass side thrust plugs allow easy mast adjustment during periodic maintenance without removal or disassembly of mast. The Vista mast is Hyster-designed and Hyster-built to precise specifications.

    Hydrostatic Steering

The backbone of any lift truck is the steer axle. Because Hyster’s steer axel is so durable, reliable and virtually maintenance-free, it has been considered the industry standard for many years.

    Operator Pre-Shift Checklist

With the Operator Pre-Shift Checklist option, the operator can be required to answer questions to confirm he or she has inspected the unit prior to operation. The vehicle system can be programmed to prevent truck ignition if the check was not completed or if an issue requires attention before the truck can be operated properly.

    Ergonomics & Productivity

    MONOTROL® Pedal

With the Hyster® MONOTROL® Pedal you have one single foot control for acceleration and changing direction between forward and reverse.  This innovative pedal design leaves an operator’s hands free for steering and operating hydraulic levers, helping improve productivity.

    Load Weight Display

The Load Weight Display senses hydraulic pressure in the lift circuit to establish the load being lifted. The display provides a simple, easy-to-read indication of the load on the forks, a benefit for arranging loads for shipment or estimating contents of containers (where only approximate accuracy is required).

    TouchPoint Mini-Levers

Precise fingertip control of multiple functions enhances productivity and operator comfort. Three- and four-function valves are available for clamping and non-clamping arrangements. For finite control of attachments, auxiliary function flow can be adjusted down to a preferred level through the dash display.

    Return-to-Center Steering

After turning, this function automatically repositions the wheels to set off again in a forward, straight direction. This feature is a fully electric steering system that significantly improves productivity, particularly on Hyster® Order Pickers.
